The Herndon/Gratz Charge of the Evangelical Congregational Church is made up by the congregations of New Life EC Church of Herndon and the Good Shepherd EC Church of Gratz. The charge was formed in May of 2025.
New Life EC Church is located at 337 Mandata Rd., Herndon, PA 17830. The congregation is made up of members of the former Seibert EC Church and Peifers EC Church. The congregations merged in 2018 to become New Life EC Church. Herndon is a small town located about 41 miles north of Harrisburg and about 12 miles south of Sunbury. It is located along Route 147 which runs along the Susquehanna River. Herndon is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts as there are various places to walk along the river or put your boat into the river to do some fishing.
The average attendance of New Life hovers between 40 and 50 people on a Sunday with some Sundays having higher attendance. There are ministry opportunities for people of all ages and potential to reach out into the community. The mission of New Life Church is to love God and love others.
Good Shepherd EC Church is located along Route 25 in Gratz, PA. Gratz is a small town located in Northern Dauphin County about 36 miles north of Harrisburg and 13 miles from Herndon. There is about a 20-minute drive between congregations. Gratz is home to the annual Gratz Fair which occurs every September and provides a unique opportunity for ministry and community outreach.
The average attendance of Good Shepherd holds around 20-25 people on a Sunday. As with New Life, there are ministry opportunities for all ages.
